I apologize for the delayed news, we have been waiting for information that needed to be communicated. Due to warm temps and a unstable surface, we will be forced to cancel Saturdays optional practice in Mt. LaCrosse. The hill is not allowing gates to be set and they are cancelling events in an attempt to maintain the diminishing surface they still have. Our apologies. Therefore, Sunday and Monday practice will be held (unless we hear otherwise from Heiliger Huegel and athletes will be welcome to attend either or BOTH practices due to other practices that were cancelled in the past. Both Sunday and Monday will be a Giant Slalom emphasis in preparation for the GS race on 2/7 at Sunburst.

With that being said…

Congratulations to our Boys and Girls Varsity and JV teams who took on talented teams from Badger, Catholic Memorial, University Lake School, Brookfield Academy and Lake Country Lutheran in a slalom race last night at Little Switzerland! Our Varsity and JV Girls both finished in first place! Top 5 finishes for our Varsity Girls included Emily Hower in 4th, Annalyse Hower slashing to silver and Katie Curry going all out for gold! Top 5 finishes for our JV Girls included Addison Krug-Trost in 5th, Alicia Payne in 4th, Stella Huggett bringing it for bronze, Arianna Schieble sending it for silver, and Landry Rebella grabbing gold! Congratulations ladies!

Our Boys Varsity took second by two tenths of a second to a very talented Badger team and our JV Boys took first! Top 5 finishes for Varsity included Kyle Swinehart in 5th, Grayson Bruss in 4th, and Charlie Bruss making his skis salsa for silver. Top 5 finishes for our JV Boys included Chris Horn in 5th, Jack Horn in 4th, and Braden Patterson galavanting to gold! Congratulations to all our racers for their efforts on a challenging night.

Special THANKS to all our hard-working parents who volunteered to work the course last night: Julie Hower, Robert and Jodi Patterson Gatekeeping, Rania Dempsey and Libby Fredmann in Timing, Kim Krotts on Bib Collection and our super mom Jen Talbot for all her hard work getting the kids tickets and bibs – and managing all the off the hill chaos!

The coaches plan to review the 5 race data set to determine our State Team. We were hoping to get all 6 sets of data, however we want families to have time to make reservations and plans. The coaches evaluated every athlete that competed at least one time at the varsity level; 8 boys and 9 girls. We will be sending athletes invitations to review the data and discuss the role we anticipate for each athlete. Families have the right to accept or pass on the opportunity. If an athlete has competed on varsity and does not receive a notification, they are welcome to make an appointment with Coach Reineking to review the data that was used to make the decisions.
